A Nail to Hang the Day On

im Vordergrund ist ein quer-gespannter Drahtseil zu sehen, welches durch an ihr befestigte verschiedene Arten von Ringen, Muttern, Haken, sogenannte Hardware, aufgespannt wird. Hintergrund ist verschwommen.

The Kunstverein in Hamburg cordially invites you to the opening of A Nail to Hang the Day On on Thursday, June 4, at 7 pm. Embedded within even the most basic household item is an emotional charge that binds it to the lives of those who use it, far exceeding the function of the object itself. Habit, trauma, fantasy, desire, or memory lodge themselves into our belongings, and the cold surfaces of a toaster or a cutting board transform, become abstract, and fossilise over time, from possessions into something else. The less directly useful an object slowly becomes, the more it accumulates meaning, specificity, and identity—and a broken chair can sometimes mean and matter more than a new one. With works by Georges Adéagbo, Stefano Arienti, Nairy Baghramian, Franco Bellucci, Beatrice Bonino, CrossLypka, Hanne Darboven, Nicolas Deshayes, Miho Dohi, Niloufar Emamifar, Laura Lamiel, Brianna Leatherbury, Timothy Lee Standring, Jac Leirner, Liliana Moro, Anna Oppermann, Stéphanie Saadé, Adrian Villar Rojas, Bri Williams. Curated by Anthony Huberman and Milan Ther
