Ihr Werk verhandelt Zeitlichkeit und Vergänglichkeit, unter anderem durch die Konservierung von Stoffen und Kleidung, und wandelt sich von abstrakter Malerei zu postkonzeptueller feministischer Skulptur. Durch wiederkehrende Gesten – Nähen, Ausbessern und Einhüllen, das Einritzen von Texten in Stoff oder Papier und das Zusammenhalten zerrissener oder zerfallender Fragmente – materialisiert Rothman sowohl Vergänglichkeit als auch Erinnerung und betont dabei Kleidung als Membran zwischen zerbrechlichen Körpern und der sie umgebenden Welt. By recurring gestures – sewing, mending and enveloping, carving texts into fabric or paper, and holding together torn or decaying fragments – Rothman gives form to impermanence and memory alike, emphasising clothing as a membrane between fragile bodies and the world that surrounds them.
