F.C. Gundlach. You'll never watch alone

F.C. Gundlach has become famous for his fashion photography and, through his diverse alliances, a key figure in the history of photography. On the occasion of his 100th birthday, the Bucerius Kunst Forum shows his iconic images, as well as previously unreleased prints and never-before-seen colour prints. The exhibition highlights his international influence as a photographer, collector, and patron of photography from Paris to New York and Brasília to Hamburg. Alongside his own photographs, numerous works by his idols, contemporaries, and successors such as Edward Steichen, Richard Avedon, and Nan Goldin will be on display. These pieces equally expose the love for the medium, a mutual influences, societal discourses, and power dynamics.
